The Florida Panthers announced their official training camp roster on Tuesday night with one of the 51 players attending on a PTO.With only two weeks of camp — the first practice is Thursday morning at the Iceplex in Fort Lauderdale, the first game is Sept. 29 in Raleigh against the Carolina Hurricanes — the Panthers simply do not have a lot of time to give players a chance to make their NHL roster. The lone PTO invitee to camp: Forward Nathan Bastian who spent last season playing with the Dallas Stars and Texas of the AHL. Bastian, 28, played in 36 games for Dallas last season with six goals and an assist. He has played in 312 NHL games — mostly with the New Jersey Devils, who drafted him in the second round in 2016. Bastian should compete for a spot on Florida’s bottom 6. Florida’s roster consists of 30 forwards, 16 defensemen and 5 goaltenders. Although Thursday’s first sessions of practice are not open to the public, workouts on Friday and Saturday are. On Saturday, the Panthers will host a Fan Fest at the Iceplex. The Panthers will hold two on-ice sessions starting Thursday at 10 a.m. The second session will be at 1 p.m.ON DECK: FLORIDA PANTHERS PRESEASONPanthers Training Camp: Players Report Wednesday, Practice Thursday-Saturday; Fort Lauderdale Open Panthers Practices: Friday, Saturday; 10 a.m./1 p.m.Panthers Preseason (Four Games): Game 1: Sunday vs. Carolina Hurricanes, 7 p.m.2026-27 NHL Season Opener: Florida at Carolina Hurricanes; Sept. 29, 5 p.m. (ESPN)2026-27 NHL Home Opener: Minnesota Wild at Florida; Oct. 10, 6 p.m. (Scripps)Full 2026-27 Florida Panthers ScheduleRelated HeadlinesJeff Rimer, Original Voice of the Florida Panthers, Celebrates Career with New BookNow in Toronto, Sergei Bobrovsky Thanks Florida Panthers FansFlorida Panthers Play First (Preseason) Game in One Week.
