Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford on Saturday after ditching the Rebels to go to LSU, as the No. 7-ranked Tigers take on No. 8 Ole Miss in Oxford.Kiffin and Ole Miss went through a very messy breakup at the end of the regular season last year, where the longtime Rebels head coach left for a conference rival before his Ole Miss team went to the College Football Playoff.Coming into the reunion, there is no love lost between Kiffin and Ole Miss, and that includes some of the Rebels’ returning stars. The junior is one of the best running backs in all of college football and is a potential first-round pick in the NFL Draft, but he opted to stay in Oxford with star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss as the Rebels chase a national championship.Last season, even after Kiffin left and Pete Golding took over as the new head coach of Ole Miss, the Rebels still won CFP games against Tulane and Georgia to make the semifinals before falling to Miami (FL) in the Fiesta Bowl. Now, the Rebels are running it back with Golding as head coach, and he will be out for revenge on Kiffin.This is also a big game in the SEC conference race and in the CFP race. Both LSU and Ole Miss have already picked up pretty impressive wins in the non-conference slate and have hard schedules ahead in the SEC.
