​The Browns have placed a lot of faith in their last two rookie classes.The rookie class of 2025 has shown some promise over the course of their first year. The class of 2026, now, is in the spotlight with the season underway.Those rookies got their debut Sept. 13 in the Browns’ 34-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The No. 24 pick out of Texas A&M University was drafted with the expectation that he would be a jack-of-all-trade, which is what he displayed in his first game.Time to dive into the first edition of this year’s “Grading the rookies.” Here’s a look at KC Concepcion’s debut.KC Concepcion, wide receiver, at Jacksonville JaguarsKC Concepcion mkes 1st career NFL catch on opening driveThe rundown: A really simple concept became a really simple catch for Concepcion on the third play of the game. Lined up as the closest to the ball in the trips right formation, Concepcion was essentially uncovered, so he ran about four yards off the line of scrimmage and turned around and waited for the ball. Start with the play itself, which was a simple wide receiver screen. The pass was a completely rushed one by Deshaun Watson, who had Jacksonville’s Trevon Walker right in his face as he’s trying to deliver the ball. Concepcion makes the catch and immediately showed the abilities that drew Cleveland to draft him. He eluded two Jaguars defenders, and was on his way to getting positive yards out of a play that could’ve potentially ended up really bad. The problem was, it turned into something really bad when Jacksonville linebacker Ventrell Miller was able to rip the ball out of Concepcion’s grasp as he was also making the tackle. Josh Hines-Allen was there to get the fumble for Jacksonville. This play would’ve been a solid C, maybe even a B- right up until the point where Miller stripped the ball out. Once Hines-Allen recovered, there’s really only one grade you can give on a turnover.The grade: FKC Concepcion with nice gain on running play in 2nd quarterThe rundown: Concepcion’s ability to run the ball was another aspect of his game so tantalizing to the Browns. That aspect of his game was finally showcased with 6:11 remaining in the second quarter.
