Oklahoma’s Eddy Pierre-Louis reveals the key details that hurt the OL

By admin — In News — September 16, 2026

One of the biggest questions for the Oklahoma Sooners coming into this season was about the offensive line. The Sooners returned four starters from last year’s unit, including three who were freshmen. However, they have yet to play together in the 2026 college football season. Starters Jake Maikkula and Ryan Fodje missed the first game, and Michael Fasusi missed the second game. Oklahoma struggled on the ground against the Michigan Wolverines, rushing for just 100 yards on 3.4 yards per carry. They also allowed three sacks and eight tackles for loss.Starting guard Eddy Pierre-Louis said the Sooners’ issues came down to the key details. “We missed out on some key details,” Pierre-Louis said via OU Insider. “We have some key details that we need to fix and stuff like that. Also, we have to go back to the key details. Sometimes we lost with the key details like fundamentals, hands, eyes, and feet. So, we look back on ourselves and make sure that we do the right things on film… we’ve got to take leadership and accountability.”There is still plenty of time for the Sooners to get the group playing at the level expected of it. Oklahoma’s rushing attack improved in the opener before taking a step back against Michigan. The biggest concern is that the Sooners can’t afford to wait too long for the pieces to come together. New Mexico offers an opportunity to clean up the fundamentals before the schedule gets tougher. Ultimately, Pierre-Louis’ message is less about pointing fingers and more about accountability. Oklahoma has the experience and talent to make its offensive line a strength, but those advantages only matter if the unit can execute consistently. Finding that cohesion now could determine whether the Sooners’ offensive struggles against Michigan were simply an early setback or a warning sign that follows them into the biggest games of the season.
