(is associated with: «Bayern extend sporting director Freund’s deal until 2029») Sven Hoppe/dpaBayern Munich have extended the contract of sporting director Christoph Freund until June 2029, the Bundesliga champions said on Wednesday.His deal was due to end in 2027, but he has now followed chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen and board member for sport Max Eberl in extending.”Christoph Freund plays a central role in all of our sporting decisions and we are pleased that he will continue to work for Bayern in the future,” Dreesen said in a statement.”The successes of recent years are also due in part to his outstanding work.”The Austrian had “more than met the expectations placed on him” over the past three years, the chief executive added.Freund arrived in 2023 from Red Bull Salzburg and has since been helping shape the double winners’ transfer business, among other duties.”I am very happy to be able to continue making my contribution to the further development of Bayern in the future,” Freund said.
