Assistant Jan-Moritz Lichte will act as caretaker on Saturday before the club will announce a new head coach.”It is a very important match for us. It was clear from the outset that the preparation should not be disturbed,” Schröder said on Thursday.Schröder said they are talking only with “two or three” candidates, adding: “We are in good talks and you can expect us to present a new coach during the international break.”Lichte, who in the past was also Mainz coach for a short while, said he has “very freedom” to prepare the team which could include benching Ko Itakura who is yet to impress.”Ko is a very important player for us. But what he is producing on the pitch at the moment is not at the level he used to have. He knows that himself,” Lichte said.A change in goal is off the table, with Moritz Nicolas backed despite a recent mistake.”He is one of the best goalkeepers we have in Germany. No ifs and buts. He did make a mistake. But he remains one of the best goalkeepers in Germany,” Fichte insisted.
