Ahead of Thursday’s training camp, six members of the 2026-27 Colorado Avalanche, along with head coach Jared Bednar, met with media just two weeks before training camp. The group consisted of many of the leaders, including team captain Gabe Landeskog, alternate captain and superstar center Nathan MacKinnon, top-pair defenseman Devon Toews, Brock Nelson, Josh Manson, and Brent Burns. The general vibe around the team is, as usual in recent years, a group eager to try to compete for another Stanley Cup. The Avs are among the deepest and most skilled teams in the NHL.Here are the key takeaways from media day. Bednar is entering the last year of his contract and doesn’t have an extension in place yet. He knows there is pressure to win and he’s ready to adjust to get this team back over the hump. I think that’s just a little bit of inspiration, maybe of our mentality.”The players still believe in BednarThis one is not surprising at all. Bednar has an excellent relationship with the players and has their respect as a head coach. He does an excellent job of balancing being a player-first coach with a stern leader.Among the quotes that stuck out was from MacKinnon, again with a comparison to the Hurricanes and their coach. “At the end of the day, it’s on the players to play better. We have a great system. We have great people around. I think (Bednar) has done an amazing job of coaching,” MacKinnon said. “He has. It’s one Cup, but it’s still a Cup, and we’ve had a lot of success in other areas as well. I think he’s done a great job. That’s kind of the same thing with Carolina. Rod has been there for a long time. I’m sure there were questions around him, his coaching, and he just stuck with it.”Manson added: “I believe in Bedsy. I mean, I think th
