​SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The schedule has not been easy for Savannah State to begin the season, as the Tigers started out the year against the reigning HBCU national champions, South Carolina State, and last week, they played the defending SIAC champions, Albany State.This Saturday, SSU faces Edward Waters, the team projected to win the conference title.Savannah State hopes the offense that showed up in the fourth quarter of the Albany State loss shows up for the entire game in Jacksonville. Coach Thomas Howard tells me WSAV expects to start to RaShawn Treull. He also said that Truell has taken a lot of reps with the first team during practice this week.”He’s worked his butt off and put himself in a good position,” Howard said. “We look to take advantage of that and allow him to keep growing. But he’s got to compete every day. And I think that’s the positive. It’s some good competition at the quarterback position. And so we’re going to let those guys compete it out.”RaShawn has done a good job this week. He’s been leading the guys with that first group.
