​The Detroit Lions (1-1) and Dan Campbell were unsure of the extent of defensive back Avonte Maddox’s injury immediately following its 41-31 loss at the Buffalo Bills (2-0).Maddox was carted off early in the second quarter with a foot injury and did not return. Afterwards, Maddox was spotted on crutches and with his left foot in a boot as he exited the Lions’ locker room.”I don’t know. Maddox is pretty tough, and so when he doesn’t come back, that makes me nervous. But I won’t know until tomorrow for sure,” Campbell said.The Lions will await further testing on Maddox on Friday. With Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph on the physically unable to perform list, Maddox has started each of the Lions’ first two games at safety alongside Chuck Clark.Maddox and Clark collided on the play in which Maddox was injured in the second quarter.”I went in there, I told him when he was coming off the field, ‘I’m so sorry.’ I seen it on the film and I’m just like, ‘Damn. I’m sorry.’ Then I came in here after the game, trying to talk to him and I’m just like, ‘My bad, bro, I’m so sorry.'”And like I say, it’s a violent game, things happen, friendly fire, but I hate that, that happened how that happened. And I don’t know the extent, but it just, if a guy can’t finish a game, I definitely hated that for him,” Clark told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.The Lions played four safeties on Thursday—Maddox, Clark, Thomas Harper and Christian Izien. The Detroit secondary surrendered 248 passing yards and three passing touchdowns to Josh Allen and the Bills.
