Milwaukee Bucks center Myles Turner has pledged $2 million over the next two decades to his hometown school district’s athletics. Along with that, the new arena at his high school alma mater will be named in his honor.The Texas native is having an offseason for the record books.In July, Turner announced his engagement to Aysia McCloud. He got down on one knee at Italy’s Villa del Balbianello.On Sept. 16, the National Basketball Players Association − the union for current professional NBA players − announced Turner as a vice president on its executive committee.Also this week, Turner shared on social media, with “immense pride and joy,” the $2 million pledge to Texas’ Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District. Turner, a Bedford native, is a graduate of the school district’s Euless Trinity High School.On Sept. 15, the district said on its social media that Turner was in the house to sign a sponsorship and pledge agreement, and present a $2 million commitment to the HEB ISD Education Foundation.“Myles Turner’s extraordinary $2 million contribution to HEB ISD Athletics will create meaningful opportunities for our students for years to come,” Superintendent of Schools Joe Harrington said in a statement provided to the Journal Sentinel by the district. “As deeply as we appreciate his generosity, we are equally grateful for Myles’ genuine desire to remain connected to our district and invested in the future of our students.
