LOUIS – Though the St. Louis Cardinals have been eliminated from playoff contention, fans heading to Friday night’s game expressed support for the direction the team is headed.Cardinals fan Nick Lambing said, “This season honestly has been one of the most fun seasons that I’ve gotten to watch in the past couple of years.”Jason Edwards, a longtime Cardinals fan, echoed the optimism about a roster that includes a host of younger players.“They’re hungry,” said Edwards. “They’re hungry so they want to win.”Fans pointed to Jordan Walker’s impressive season that includes winning the All-Star Game’s Home Run Derby as one of the season’s highlights. Joshua Baez’s history-making three-home-run debut was another bright spot. Fans also expressed excitement for the future of Alec Burleson, Masyn Winn, and J.J. Wetherholt.
