Clark missed the shot, but officials called a foul on Harrison during the play.Clark then made contact with Harrison’s face with her left hand as she moved toward the basket. Officials reviewed the sequence and upgraded Clark’s foul to a Flagrant Foul Penalty 1. The initial foul gave Clark two free throws. The Flagrant 1 also gave Harrison two free throws and awarded Toronto possession. Harrison missed both attempts.The WNBA rulebook defines a Flagrant 1 as unnecessary contact against an opponent. A Flagrant 2 involves unnecessary and excessive contact and results in an ejection after replay review. Under the league’s current disciplinary system, a Flagrant 1 carries one flagrant point. Each flagrant point carries a $500 fine.
