Jerry Mack returned to Tennessee as Kennesaw State’s head coach in Week 3. He served as Tennessee’s running backs coach from 2021-23 under head coach JoshHeupel.No. 14 Tennessee (3-0) defeated Kennesaw State (1-2), 42-9.Mack discussed the Owls’ performance against the Vols.“Obviously, not the result that we wanted, but the way we competed against a top fifteen team in the nation, there’s so much growth from that game that we can take and can apply for the rest of the year,” Mack said. “I saw some positive things from the defensive side of the ball. The strain, the things we did on third down, especially in the first half. “From the offense’s standpoint, once we get into rhythm and we start playing our style of football, we can prove that we can move the ball against anybody in the country. We just need to go fix a lot of those things. I thought we fixed some things from last week that we talked about. We kept the packages a little bit simpler, and we’ll continue to add on as we feel these guys can take it. For the most part, we’re going to take that film, we’re going to address it, and apply some of the things that we can fix. I love their strain and I love the way they competed all night long.”More: ESPN ‘College GameDay’ will be at Tennessee-Texas football gameMore: Kennesaw State football coaches, operations set for Tennessee returnFollow Vols Wire on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). This article originally appeared on Vols Wire: Jerry Mack recaps Kennesaw State’s performance at Tennessee
