Latu, who had 8.5 sacks in his second season, was supposed to finally provide the remedy by emerging as a true weapon off the edge.Latu hasn’t looked like that kind of player two games into the season. Kansas City superstar Patrick Mahomes had plenty of time in the pocket on Sunday night, dropping back to little pressure throughout most of the game.Buckner recorded a sack for a stop near the end of the first half, but that was almost the entirety of the Indianapolis pass-rush production. When the Colts needed a big stop on third-and-11 in the second half, Latu broke free far too late in the down, allowing Mahomes to launch a 45-yard completion to Tyquan Thornton.It happened again in overtime. After a Jerry Tillery sack forced Kansas City into a third-and-13, the Chiefs doubled Buckner, and Latu wasn’t able to win his matchup outside, allowing Thornton to beat Kapena Gushiken and Hunter Wohler for a 30-yard completion that got the drive moving.Colts WR Laquon Treadwell vs. Kansas City’s cornerbacksWith Alec Pierce out, Indianapolis needed somebody to step up at wide receiver as a deep threat.Treadwell, the 31-year-old who hadn’t caught a pass since the 2023 season, ended up being the player to do it.The big wide receiver made his first catch in four seasons with a 10-yard grab in the first half, then drew two key pass-interference penalties downfield.Then Treadwell made the biggest play of the game, getting behind the Kansas City defense for a 48-yard completion that almost spelled disaster.
