​Week 1 of the 2026 NFL Season was a wild one, with the New Orleans Saints coming up just short of the Detroit Lions in an overtime shootout that saw Tyler Shough put up 410 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. This total was the most passing yards by a Saints quarterback in a game since Week 1 of the 2018 NFL Season by Drew Brees, when he hit 439 yards in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Shough has maintained a decent pace in Week 2 as well, posting 252 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in a win, and 662 total yards with 4 touchdowns through two games. Since Shough took over last season, he has accrued 3,046 passing yards in 13 total games, 11 of which were starts. In his last six games, he has 1,834 of those yards, making him one of only two quarterbacks in Saints history to post 1,800-plus yards in a six-game span, the other being Drew Brees. It will be fascinating to see if he is able to produce in both halves long-term, as if he can get firing out of the gate, this offense could end up being deadly.
