​The Ohio State men’s and women’s basketball teams held their first official practices of the season on Monday. However, it wasn’t just the two teams that fans got their first look at. The Buckeyes’ home venue got some massive upgrades during the offseason, most notably a new video scoreboard. In addition to the new video board, the Schott was upgraded with video ribbon boards all around the arena. The new additions ensure a brighter and more vibrant atmosphere for basketball and hockey. Not only were there improvements to the visual aesthetics, but to the sound system as well. The audio was upgraded, replacing the 27-year-old original sound system with a “modern, performance-driven design that includes new line arrays, a new back-of-house audio system, mixing console, and support infrastructure located 135 feet above the court.” The new updates will hopefully liven up a fan experience that has long been lacking by college basketball standards. The first basketball game will come two days later, when the men’s team hosts Butler for an exhibition.
