He became the highest-drafted tight end by the Jets since 2008, when they traded back into the first round for Dustin Keller.With high draft pedigree comes massive expectations. Taylor had a so-so rookie campaign, which certainly wasn’t helped by the lackluster quarterback play.He finished with 44 receptions for 369 receiving yards, and he scored one touchdown. Of course, that touchdown reception came from a pass thrown by – no, not a quarterback, but rather Breece Hall on a trick play. Before the 2026 season, head coach Aaron Glenn went out of his way to pump up Taylor. Glenn predicted at the Annual League Meetings in March that Taylor is going to have a “hell of a year.”During training camp, Glenn doubled down on his prediction, saying Taylor would pop in year No. 2. Despite that hype, Taylor underwhelmed through the first two games of the 2026 regular season. In Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, Taylor was targeted three times, catching two passes for negative two receiving yards.
