Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.Manchester City have been found guilty on all but one of the charges of serious financial breaches brought by the Premier League, according to a report by The Athletic.The Premier League hit City with 115 charges of breaking the competition’s financial regulations, across a period spanning 2009 to 2018, in February 2023.City went on to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League that season and won six major honors — including three Premier League titles — within the period that the charges cover.The Premier League’s case against City, which followed a case brought by UEFA that saw the club initially banned from European competitions in 2020 before that punishment was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, came before an independent panel in September 2024 and a 12-week hearing concluded in December of that year.The process has since been shrouded in secrecy and a statement from City to The Athletic read: “The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality.
