Early on, the returns were positive, as Raiola was a perfect 11-of-11 passing with three touchdowns in relief against Portland State.When Moore became the victim of a late hit that put him down on the field for what felt like an eternity, ultimately being taken to a Los Angeles-area hospital, Raiola’s role at Oregon shifted on a dime.Yes, as the backup, Raiola would need to step up and finish the game for the Ducks. Instead, Raiola entered and quickly found Evan Stewart for a short touchdown pass.Stewart and Raiola held up the number five with their hands after the score, and that set the tone for the remainder of the game. While Moore was at the top of mind, the Ducks adopted the mentality of their backup quarterback.“We had no doubt whenever his number was called, he was going to make the plays that he made,” Stewart said.In the fourth quarter, Raiola lofted a 29-yard touchdown pass to Dakorien Moore for what proved to be the winning score. The Nebraska transfer showed his confidence and experience on the field, checking into the double-move that allowed Moore to break open for the score.
