​Editor’s note: This is part two of a three-part series entitled “Deion Sanders has lost touch with football reality at Colorado.” Check out the preceding part one. “It appears as though we are better than our opponents, but the score does not dictate that.”This one might need further explanation because of who Sanders is. The volume and frequency of coaches and players who do not accept a reality that opposes the final score is significant. A team loses and fans claim the team was robbed by a referee. You won’t hear coaches and players agreeing with that. You are what your record says you are. There are no moral victories (which is very different from no silver linings). Win or lose, the scoreboard is the scoreboard.The follow-up to that response was to outline exactly why they aren’t beating opponents they think they are better than. Offensive output, penalties and the defense’s inability to hold teams for prolonged periods of time. That answer would have been fine without the perceived confusion before the answer was given.“Boo (Carter) is the last guy I’m worried about.”It’s understandable to say if the question was about his play or locking down a receiver. The question was about extracurricular activity after plays. For the second week, star cornerback Boo Carter was almost involved in an on-field altercation. Sanders mentioned that a lot goes on that we don’t know about in the piles, in the plays and in the jawing. Again though, that’s not new information. Yet, universally, players getting into extra physical altercations continues to be a thing players are expected to avoid at all competitive levels.“Let me preface this, are we the only ones?”Sanders was asked about the three players that were dismissed last week. Life is not fair. Something I learned as a young child at grocery store registers. The logic is not ridiculous. Sure, Colorado is not the only program who has ever dismissed a player for ‘conduct detrimental’. However, Sanders is not the coach of ‘other programs’.If the media were held to a standard of being completely fair and included every single example of similar tactics, each question would be five minutes long and each press conference would be measured in hours not minutes. Colorado media are worried about Colorado, not other programs. Now, “I’m old school, Ima pay you to act a fool…?” That’s a perfectly acceptable Coach Prime type answer.
