​The Washington Commanders departed for London on Tuesday evening to prepare for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. As expected, starting quarterback Jayden Daniels was with the team and could practice this week, but still remains unlikely to play in Week 4. Marcus Mariota will start if Daniels remains sidelined. Linebacker Frankie Luvu and tight end Chig Okonkwo also traveled with the team. While that doesn’t guarantee either will return in Week 4, it’s a good sign. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Monday that Daniels, Luvu, and Okonkwo would make the trip, and he hoped to see all practice in some form this week. However, not all the news was good. Quinn said that right guard Sam Cosmi (concussion) and safety Nick Cross (illness) would be re-evaluated before Washington left for London to determine if they could make the trip. The Commanders took off on Tuesday evening, and Cosmi and Cross did not make the trip. That means both are ruled out for Sunday’s game. Cross played the entire game at Dallas, but stayed overnight with what Quinn called an internal injury at the time. He flew back into Virginia the day after that game, but was ruled out early last week. With Cosmi out last week, the Commanders moved center Nick Allegretti to right guard and recently signed veteran Lucas Patrick started at center. Quan Martin started at safety with Cross out. Daniels dislocated his left (non-throwing) elbow in the Week 2 loss to the Cowboys, but received good news last week. Whether he plays in Week 4 or not, he is close to returning. Okonkwo (hamstring) and Luvu (groin) have missed the last two games. The Commanders need Luvu back, as injuries to him, Leo Chenal and Jordan Magee have tested their depth.
