​Todd Therrien, the only two-time state champion head football coach in Ventura County history, died on Sept. 30.Therrien, 47, who led St. Bonaventure to CIF-State championships in 2007 and 2008, succumbed from complications related to a recent stroke, according to his father Bill.He had been in a quadriplegic state since suffering a devastating spinal cord injury in a car accident in Clovis in May 2022.A linebacker and offensive guard on St. Bonaventure’s 1996 CIF-Southern Section Division X championship team, Therrien became an indispensable part of the coaching staff that went to nine CIF-SS title games in a 10-year span from 1999 to 2008, winning eight championships.Succeeding Jon Mack as head coach in 2007, Therrien immediately coached the Seraphs to consecutive CIF-State Division III championships.The Star spoke to Therrien in a rehabilitation facility in Chatsworth in 2023.
