‘Being His Worst Own Nightmare’ — Heisman Winner Claims Dylan Stewart Could Go ‘Undrafted’ After Controversial South Carolina SuspensionSouth Carolina edge rusher Dylan Stewart is not with the team after being suspended indefinitely for punching Alabama tight end Josh Ford in the helmet and refusing to come off the field when instructed by his coaching staff during the Gamecocks’ 49-18 loss to the Crimson Tide on Saturday. While the SEC announced a one-game suspension for “egregious contact against an opposing player,” South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer has stated that the absence could stretch beyond this Saturday’s home game against No. 24 Kentucky. Now, Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III is warning Stewart that draft stock may never recover.Robert Griffin III Warns Dylan Stewart That He’s Torpedoing His NFL Draft StockThe incident drew a pointed response from Griffin, who went beyond the punch itself and focused on what Stewart’s sideline behavior signals to NFL teams.Griffin made the case that refusing a coach’s instruction is the kind of red flag that follows a prospect into the draft process even more so than a single on-field incident.“If your coach is telling you to come out the game, you come out the game. This is a classic example of a guy being his own worst nightmare. Dylan Stewart isn’t just tanking his draft stock. He’s almost making it to where he could be undrafted,” Griffin said during a segment on “Outta Pocket with RG3.”“Coaches will deal with certain off-the-field things because they believe your talent overshadows that. We can work on the maturity. We can turn him into a Jalen Carter like the Eagles did. But what Dylan Stewart did is show you that not only does he not care about his draft stock, he doesn’t care about his team. He doesn’t care what his coach has to say. And once you get into that, they start calling you uncoachable. And that makes you undraftable.”Griffin noted that the punch alone would not have necessarily destroyed his stock, as there are examples of teams moving past that and still giving players a chance.PREDICT THE CFB SEASON:PFN’s Free CFB Playoff Predictor“We’ve seen guys throw punches on the field and go win Super Bowls, right? LeGarrette Blount threw a punch, one of the most infamous punches of all time, and guess what? He went and won a Super Bowl with the Patriots. So throwing the punch, although uncalled for, shouldn’t happen. But if your coach is telling you to come out the game, you come out the game,” Griffin said.On Tuesday, South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer made it clear that Stewart’s future with the program is entirely in his hands. He did not offer a timeline for the junior’s return, only that the decision would be his to make.“The easy thing from a football standpoint would be to fine you, go out there on the field, do some up-downs, run extra, and that will be your punishment, but we need you on Saturday to go beat
