SOUTH BEND — As September fades, so does the stretch of three Big Ten teams in four weeks across the No. 3 Notre Dame football schedule. Exit, stage left. As October arrives, so does the stretch of Atlantic Coast Conference teams across the Notre Dame football schedule. Enter, stage right. ND, UNC 411: Notre Dame football at North Carolina | Game time, TVNoie: Another Big Ten laugher of a win for No. 3 Notre Dame footballThe first of six regular-season games against ACC teams, where Notre Dame (4-0) has won five straight and 11 of 12 against the league, starts with a Week Five visit to Chapel Hill and a game against North Carolina (2-1). The Irish have won five straight and 11 of 12 in the series. They’re also 7-2 in Chapel Hill. Here are four players to watch in the season’s first noon kick for Notre Dame. No. 3 NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH (4-0)LT Will Black (74)What started as a red flag has since quieted down with a solid four games for the first-time starter from London, Ontario, Canada at the most demanding offensive line position. Making his first career start over Labor Day weekend in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the 6-foot-7, 316-pound Black looked like he might not be ready to step into the top left tackle spot. He allowed a sack of quarterback CJ Carr on the opening drive against Wisconsin, a drive that ended with a hide your eyes three plays for (-5) yards and a punt. Ooof. Black’s since been better, quietly and confidently protecting Carr’s blind side while limiting Notre Dame to only two sacks allowed all season. He’s solidified the spot and shown the skills that allowed former left tackle Anthonie Knapp to slide to left guard. Black will be challenged by a North Carolina defense ranked ninth nationally in sacks. Expect new defensive coordinator Brian Belichick, the coach’s other son, to bring some exotic blitzes and pressures, maybe to Black’s side of the ball. Make him move his feet. Make him use his size and his smarts. Test him. That Tar Heel defense is good (44th nationally overall), which means Black will have to be equally good. Or even great. DE Bryce Young (95)Was that the Bryce Young coming out game? The beginning of something special for the 6-6, 260-pound junior from Charlotte? Last time out against Purdue, Young had himself a day. He sacked quarterback Ryan Browne on the Boilers’ first play from scrimmage. He later had another sack that forced a fumble and turned into a Drayk Bowen recovery and touchdown. He wreaked havoc on the Purdue offensive line. He made four tackles, two sacks and two TFLs. He forced a fumble and had a quarterback hurry. That’s the Young we thought we’d see last season. We’re seeing him now. He’s already fifth on the team in tackles (14) and leads the Irish in tackles for loss (5.5) and sacks (3.0). An Irish defense that ranks in the Top 10 nationally in four categories, including second in scoring defense (8.3 ppg) and first in total defense (199.3 ypg.), is only as good as its fr
