Italy File Provisional List of Stadiums for Euro 2032The FIGC, the Italian Football Association, has completed one of the first steps of the long road toward Euro 2032, compiling the first list of stadiums that could become one of the five hosts of the competition, which will be split between the Peninsula and Turkey.According to La Repubblica, 13 cities and 14 arenas are now formally in the running: Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Florence, Genoa, Lecce, Milan, Napoli, Palermo, Salerno, Torino, Verona, Napoli, Turin, and Roma, both with the current Stadio Olimpico and the new one, which just received its final green light.UEFA has not set a firm date for announcing its Euro 2032 choices. Juventus’ Allianz Stadium is the only one that meets all 125 requirements. Still, making the first cut will grant access to the public funds designated for the project. Per IlSole24Ore, the competition will lead to €5B investments in the old or new infrastructure.A few cities seized the unique opportunity. Bologna, Verona, Milan, and Cagliari are participating with buildings whose construction has yet to start, Sky reports. The first two finalized their proposals only recently. Most of the other structures will undergo significant renovations, some of which are already well underway.According to Tuttomercatoweb, only a pair of candidates have been excluded from the get-go among those who had shown interest: a third stadium in Rome, spearheaded by Lazio president Claudio Lotito, who wants to revamp the Flaminio, and a second one in Naples. Aurelio De Laurentiis’ idea was still in its infancy.
