3 reasons for optimism as the Bears face the Jets in Week 4

There may be uncertainty around who is going to be the Chicago Bears’ starting quarterback in their Week 4 game against the New York Jets, but there is no question that Chicago has two good options in Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent with Caleb Williams ruled out with a hamstring injury.Keenum is coming off one of the best games of his career in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles with a 70.6 percent completion percentage and three total touchdowns. He had total command of the offense, and the passing game took control of the game. The run game picked up in the second half and running back D’Andre Swift finished the game with a solid performance.New York has a good defense, but the Bears may be the best offense they have faced so far this season. As Chicago looks to get to 3-1 against the Jets, here are three reasons for optimism. The Jets cannot run the ballIt is not for a lack of trying as New York actually has the 10th-most rushing attempts out of any team in the NFL. However, they have the seventh-fewest rushing yards and third-fewest yards per attempt in the league through the first three weeks with only 3.3. To make matters worse for the Jets, their star running back is most likely not playing in this game, meaning they will have to turn to Braelon Allen who is averaging 3.2 yards per attempt so far this year. On the other hand, Chicago has the best rushing offense through the first three weeks. They have the most rushing attempts, rushing yards, most yards per attempt with 5.1 yards and second-most rushing touchdowns. Even with starting running back D’Andre Swift questionable with a knee injury, this is a perfect scenario for the Bears because they should be able to establish the run game early and take control of this game relatively quickly.Geno Smith is terrible against the NFC NorthThe Jets have already lost to the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions this season. However, if you look at Smith’s entire career, he only has three wins against the NFC North in 13 games against this division. Specifically, against the Bears, he has played Chicago three times and only won once. In his five games against Chicago, he has only three touchdowns and five interceptions. Overall, Smith has not had a lot of success against the Bears or the entire NFC North division. History does not dictate what is going to happen in the present, but it can show important trends, and Smith has a clear trend – he does not play well against the Bears, and he does not win against the NFC North. The Jets’ offensive line has struggledNew York has a young offensive line with a lot of talent. But they have had their growing pains, particularly in the past two games against the Packers and the Lions. The Jets have given up nine sacks in the last two games after not allowing Geno Smith to get sacked in the season opener. Chicago has not gotten a lot of sacks this season as they only have seven sacks so far this season with their most sacks being against th
