Former Stanley Cup champion, 16-year NHL veteran, dies suddenly at 58

   ​Defenseman Lyle Odelein, a veteran of 16 NHL seasons who won a Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens in 1993, died suddenly on Friday, Oct. 2. He was 58.The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Odelein died of a heart attack.Odelein played 1,056 regular season games and another 86 in the postseason for the Canadiens (1989-96), New Jersey Devils (1996-2000), Phoenix Coyotes (2000), Columbus Blue Jackets (2000-02), Chicago Blackhawks (2002-03), Dallas Stars (2003), Florida Panthers (2003-04) and Pittsburgh Penguins (2005-06)MORE: NBA Hall of Famer, 11-time All-Star, first MVP dies at 93Odelein finished his career with 50 goals and 202 assists in the regular season, and another five goals and 13 assists in the playoffs.
