The Arizona Cardinals had a chance to pick up their second win of the season and go into Week 5 with a .500 record. However, despite taking a 14-3 first-quarter lead over the New York Giants, they had offensive struggles, injuries, turnovers and defensive problems. In the end, it was a 36-24 loss to the now 3-1 New York Giants. They had a chance to win, too. Trailing 30-24 with 2:06 to go in the game, they got inside the five-yard line for a first-and-goal, but Jacoby Brissett threw three consecutive incompletions and then was picked off on fourth-and-goal by Deionte Banks, who returned the interception 98 yards for a touchdown to end the game. Brissett struggled, completing 21-of-35 passes for 166 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He averaged 4.7 yards per attempt. It was his first three-interception game since joining the Cardinals. After they scored touchdowns on their first two drives, they had three turnovers and six three-and-outs on their next 11 possessions. They allowed two touchdowns in the final five minutes of the second quarter, but got a last-second field goal to end the half trailing 19-17, and they took a 24-19 lead on Brissett’s second touchdown pass of the game, after safety Budda Baker picked off Giants quarterback Jameis Winston in the third quarter. However, the Giants scored a touchdown in with 1:44 last in the third quarter to take a 27-24 lead, and the Cardinals never would score again. Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love rushed for 63 yards on 14 attempts, bu the team only had 270 yards of offense for the game after 132 on their first two possessions in the first quarter. Michael Wilson caught seven passes for 95 yards, but tight end Trey McBride had only limited impact. He caught seven passes, but he only gained 31 yards. Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. had a 12-yard touchdown reception, but that was all he had on four targets. For the Giants, Winston completed 18-of-29 passes for 250 yards, three touchdowns and two picks. They rushed for 87 yards, led by Cam Skattebo’s 52 yards on 18 carries.
