Jordan Walsh is ready for a bigger role with Boston Celtics, and Joe Mazzulla knows it

Heading into his fourth season with the Boston Celtics, forward Jordan Walsh shared that he feels a change in expectations at the team’s training camp, both in terms of his own expectations for his growth as a player as well as that of the team. “I think this year, I definitely came in feeling a little bit like a vet for sure,” said the Texan wing via CLNS Media, who hinted it might not have been so wise to share that perspective as openly as he did initially.”I think I told (Celtics head coach) Joe (Mazzulla) that, and I think that was my biggest mistake of the year so far,” said Walsh with a wry smile. “Now I think he’s trying to hold it to a whole other standard, so I’ll just go around and not say that anymore.””But yeah, I definitely feel different, I definitely feel older, I feel more experienced, especially with this team,” continued the Arkansas alum, moving on to describe just what this new standard he’d talked himself into with Mazzulla looked like in camp. “It’s different because we were having a drill one day, and we were losing,” said Walsh. “(Paul George) was on the same team, and Joe was like, ‘Yo, you know what the standard is here. You know what it’s time for? Go tell PG that’. I was like, ‘You want me to coach PG? You want me to mentor him?'””He’s like, ‘Yeah, you’ve been here for a while. You should do that’. I was like, ‘I don’t know if I can tell him something he hasn’t already known’. So I tried; I tried to bring him into the culture. He’s embraced (it) as well anybody else, so that’s kind of where it took a turn.”Listen to “Havlicek Stole the Pod” on:Blue Wire: https://tiny.ee/CdKpiTunes: https://tiny.ee/RK47YouTube: https://tiny.ee/cOW3This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Jordan Walsh is ready for a bigger role with Boston Celtics, and Joe Mazzulla knows it
