MARCELLUS — For the third time this year, a Marcellus football player earned a ton of votes.It just to happens that the Wildcats garnered their third recipient of the Footballer of the Week award, presented by Glen Oaks Community College. Last week’s winner was Cale Hackenberg, quarterback for the Marcellus Wildcats.Hackenberg earned an impressive 16,643 total votes for the honor. That earned him 61.4 percent of the total votes cast in our weekly poll, which highlights some of the best football action from around the area.FRIDAY FOOTBALL RECAP: Sturgis homecoming spoiled, top-ranked Mendon cruises to lead Week 6 resultsThere were 27,980 total votes cast last week. That is a big number and one of our better ones for participation so far this year through the first two-thirds of the season. We thank you for the continued voting and participation.Hackenberg’s 16,643 votes garnered were not exactly a runaway victory, though. Maddix Jancasz of Constantine put on a strong push as he earned 10,324 total votes last week, which was good for 38.1 percent of the total votes cast. Both Ben Stevens of Bronson and Logan Stuart of Mendon were also up for the honor.Hackenberg completed all three of his passes for 82 yards and two TDs last week. He also ran in a score as well as Marcellus picked up a 66-0 win over Muskegon Heights Academy.
