After a dominant win over Florida on Saturday, players on both sides of the ball for Missouri football were recognized by the SEC in the conference’s weekly awards.Mizzou quarterback Austin Simmons was named the Co-SEC Offensive Player of the week alongside Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop on Monday, and MU linebacker Nicholas Rodriguez was named the Co-SEC Defensive Player of the Week alongside Vols defensive back Dejuan Lane.Missouri hammered Florida 45-17 on Saturday in Columbia and rose to the No. 16 ranking in the US LBM Coaches Poll and the No. 14 spot in the AP Top 25.Simmons fell a single yard short of his career passing high, throwing for 340 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Gators on a 23-of-30 (76.7%) passing mark. The quarterback is yet to throw a pick for the Tigers through five games and has the third-most passing yards among SEC quarterbacks through five gameweeks. He had touchdown throws of 47 yards to Donovan Olugbode and 31 yards to Caleb Goodie Sr. against Florida.Rodriguez was a vital member of the Mizzou defensive front as it shut down UF’s stout rushing attack.
