Coach Larissa Anderson added the third transfer in the 2026, bringing in more SEC talent in Georgia infielder Tyah Charlton. She spent two years with the Bulldogs, recording eight hits in 38 career at-bats. In addition, Charlton racked up nine runs, one home run and six RBI. She will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Charlton played shortstop at Lynchburg High School in Virginia, earning a bevy of awards including area all-player and all-state first team. Other awards included three-time all-district first team performer, two time all-region first team player and two time all-state second team shortstop. Charlton was a three-sport athlete, also competing in volleyball and track.

She saw a plethora of action early in the 2026 season, but struggled to find at-bats deep into conference play. Several standouts games included a two-hit performance against James Madison and a home run with two RBI against Utah Valley.
While Charlton lacks significant experience at the collegiate level, her raw talent and remaining eligibility gives her the tools to grow into an SEC starter. While it’s possible for the transfer to work her way into a starting role, it’s more likely for the Virginia native to spend a majority of the season coming off the bench in key moments with the occasional start in the field. The full picture of the Tigers’ infield should come into focus following the abridged exhibition fall season. (Editor’s note: Karen remains confused on the addition of yet another infielder, as that is not, in her opinion, the Tigers’ biggest need.)
