The Rangers are adding an exciting young piece to their bottom-six. New York is recalling Cole Beaudoin to make his NHL debut Tuesday against the Islanders. Beaudoin is expected to slide right in as the fourth line center, taking the place of veteran Joe Veleno, who will be landing in IR with a lower-body injury suffered Sunday night. Additionally, Matthew Robertson has been assigned to Hartford after clearing waivers. Beaudoin, a former first-round pick, was acquired by the Blueshirts as one of the main pieces of the Vincent Trocheck trade with the Mammoth this offseason. The 20-year-old was one of the biggest young standouts participating in his first pro camp, earning some high praise from head coach Mike Sullivan before being sent down to Hartford. Sullivan said that Beaudoin and fellow prospect Liam Greentree have a chance to be “impactful NHL players.”After producing a team-high five points through just two games in the AHL, the young centerman now receives his opportunity to prove he can live up to that potential at the next level.
