Former Celtic manager Ronny Deila ready for return after Israel nightmareFormer Celtic manager Ronny Deila has declared himself ready to return to football management after prosecutors in Israel closed the case which had kept the Norwegian away from the dugout. Deila left Maccabi Tel Aviv earlier this year following an allegation of sexual harassment relating to an incident involving a taxi driver. The 51-year-old was questioned by police and subsequently resigned from his position, with former Celtic and Rangers striker Kenny Miller initially taking charge.Deila has now confirmed – via Sun Sport – that he has been informed that the case has been closed.“I am waiting to return to work as a coach,” the Norwegian said, adding that he can now begin working again following what he described as a difficult period.Former Celtic striker Harald Brattbakk (C) who is handing over the trophy today with Celtic Manager Ronny Deila (L) and Scott Brown (R) ahead of the Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle at Celtic Park on May 24, 2015. The affable Ronny might struggle initially given that he made the switch to Israel at this time; however, given his willingness to work wherever then he may find an opportunity shortly.Deila has enjoyed a varied managerial career since leaving Glasgow in 2016, working in Norway, the United States, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates and Israel. His most notable achievement after Celtic came with New York City FC, whom he guided to the MLS Cup in 2021. Deila joined Celtic in 2014 as a surprise appointment from Stromsgodset. Initially, it transpired, that Deila was intended to come into the club as Assistant Manager to Roy Keane. Although, the Irish legend decided against taking up the role, leaving Celtic flapping in their hunt to replace Neil Lennon. The Norwegian was a left-field appointment but had success in Norway as a young manager.Ronny won 2 titles and 1 league cup in his time in Glasgow and played a role in the side’s push towards 9IAR. It is right that the role that he played in developing the club is widely recognised. He was put in an impossible position whereby he was only given some tools to do the job with decisions being taken from above with regards to transfers etc.
