Bengals News: Chad Johnson believes in the backup wide receivers

By admin — In News — October 7, 2026

The Cincinnati Bengals are heading into Week 5 riding a two-game losing streak, and both Ja’Marr Chase (concussion) and Tee Higgins (adductor) are nursing injuries. The Bengals are facing the Dolphins in Miami on Sunday in a game they need to win to go into the bye week on a high note. It’s currently unclear as to whether or not Chase and Higgins, the best wide receiver duo in the NFL, will be able to play in Miami. If they don’t, it’ll be Mitchell Tinsley, who was signed off the Texans’ practice squad and rejoined the team last week, and rookie Dohnte Meyers (it’s also possible Colbie Young could play as well) catching passes from Joe Burrow at wide receiver while Mike Gesicki fills in the gaps. One guy who has confidence in the Bengals’ backup receivers is Cincinnati great Chad Johnson, who told Geoff Hobson he’s excited to see the game from his home city of Miami.“And for them, that’s a good thing because if (Ja’Marr) Chase and Tee (Higgins) can’t go., I have the utmost confidence in Tinsley and Myers being able to make plays,” he said, per Hobson. “It’s all up to Zac Taylor understanding their skill sets and what their strengths are, and putting them in positions to be able to make those plays. Even if Tee and Chase can’t go, I mean it’d be a blow, but I still won’t feel that bad understanding how good Tinsley and Meyers are.”Here’s what else is going on:Though there is a small sample size, the Bengals have never lost when wearing orange jerseys, white pants with orange stripes and orange socks. That’s what they’re wearing on Sunday in Miami when they look to bounce back against the Dolphins. They’re 2-0 in that combination, and they’re 28-11-1 in orange jerseys since they were unveiled for the first time in 2004. Bengals’ offensive approach could change. What might be tweaked after 2 straight losses“A very honest and brutal Monday. Which we deserved,” Karras said. “We need to get ourselves back. Wake up. It doesn’t feel like it was a crazy game because we had a chance to win, but I have a pit in my stomach similar to Minnesota last year as an offensive line. That was not very good.”While it isn’t confirmed, it’s possible Colbie Young could suit up on Sunday in Miami. Zac Taylor didn’t rule him out. With Andrei Iosivas on IR, Ja’Marr Chase in concussion protocol and Tee Higgins dealing with an adductor injury that could keep him on the sidelines for an unknown period of time, Young being able to suit up on Sunday could help make sure the Bengals don’t extend their losing streak to three.
