The Auburn transfer has done a good job so far this season for Iowa, helping them to a 4-1 start overall.But there is just something special about Hecklinski.Jeremy Hecklinski Was Neck And Neck With Hank Brown In The PreseasonFor as much as we the fans know, Hecklinski was on par with Brown during the preseason. In fact, the two split reps in the season opener.However, Brown took the job and was off after leading Iowa to a win over in-state rival Iowa State. He sits at 832 yards and five touchdowns, completing 63 percent of his passes overall.The Hawkeye offense, though, looked a step slower vs. Ohio State. For the season, he has completed 18 of 32 for 208 yards and a touchdown with an interception.Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, an old-soul of a leader, played coy with the decision. He said Brown was likely out, but did not go that far. Jimmy Sullivan is expected to serve as the backup this week.Wake Forest Transfer Could Ignite The Iowa OffenseHecklinski first attended Wake Forest, taking three snaps in 2024. He was a star at the Georgia high school level for Walton.In his senior season, Walton reached the top spot in Georgia and was considered one of the best teams in the country. Hecklinski threw for almost 3,900 yards and 50 touchdowns.Under his guidance, they appeared in the Class 7A title game, winning 32 games over a three-year career.Hecklinski comes from a strong family tradition of college football quarterbacks.
