It’s Week 7 of the high school football season and this week, there are a lot of great games surrounding the Beaver Valley, with several area programs aiming to remain unbeaten in conference play. This week, there are several great MAC matchups, along with a Class 5A meeting featuring tenured coaches. With the playoff race heating up, here are five games to watch this week, with predictions. Neshannock at Beaver FallsIt’s a rivalry renewed for Neshannock and Beaver Falls, with the pair of teams matching up for the first time since the 2023 season as Neshannock is bumped back up to Class 2A. The last two games in this series were highly contested, decided by a combined two points, with Neshannock winning the regular-season meeting while Beaver Falls took the game in the playoffs. Prediction: Beaver Falls – The Tigers have been the team to beat over the past several weeks in Class 2A, with Beaver Falls piling up four-straight victories. It will be another close matchup featuring two high-powered offenses, but Beaver Falls will be able to pull ahead. Blackhawk at MarsBlackhawk gets its first chance to respond to a loss after falling to New Castle last week in its Parkway Conference opener. Now, it will have an opportunity to bounce back against Mars, a team whose two wins of the season were decided by one-possession games. Prediction: Blackhawk – Blackhawk’s Wing-T offense will enjoy more success this week and will continue to push the team forward. As long as the team’s defense holds up, the Cougars will even up their Parkway Conference record. Thomas Jefferson at West AlleghenyThis matchup between West Allegheny and Thomas Jefferson will feature one of the top head coaching matchups all season in the Beaver Valley, with West Allegheny head coach Bob Palko and Thomas Jefferson head coach Bill Cherpak facing off. The pair have racked up almost 60 years combined of coaching at their respective programs, with Palko back in the saddle at West Allegheny. Palko has his squad playing their best ball at the moment, winning three of its last four games, with senior running back Brodie Cornell coming off a three-touchdown game on the ground. Prediction: Thomas Jefferson – While this game will be tightly contested, Thomas Jefferson will pull ahead late, thanks to its strong offense featuring running back Tyler Eber. Mohawk at Western BeaverWestern Beaver has been on a roll during conference play, picking up another victory in league action with a 32-12 win over New Brighton.
