James and Maxey did not return after the break as the Sixers eventually fell to a six-point defeat. That was enough for some fans to joke about what the result could mean for the upcoming season. One supporter simply wrote: “Season over…”Another was more positive: “Good fight by the reserves. Wins and losses don’t matter in the preseason but it was great to see the big five on the court.”A third fan took aim at the result: “Lost to the Nets with a superteam lmao. I’m so sure.” Another added: “A win would’ve been nice.”There was also some optimism despite the defeat, with one supporter writing: “Never been more happy with an L.” One fan urged others not to overreact: “People are gonna overreact lmao. We will be fine. Learn from the mistakes, improve and move on.”Not everyone was convinced, however: “Y’all are cooked, and y’all don’t even know it lmao.”The harshest criticism was reserved for Embiid: “We don’t need Embiid if this is how he’s going to play. He’ll be injured before December because he doesn’t know how to play hard and protect his body. As soon as he goes all out he will subject himself to getting injured.”The Sixers have another preseason game against the Boston Celtics on Saturday before their regular-season opener against the New York Knicks on October 20.Read more:Enes Kanter reveals private NBA player opinions on trans WNBA athletes‘I can’t believe this dude is playing’ – Enes Kanter says he could still play in the NBATwo Lakers players could be heading for the exit after Robert Horry warning
