Max Verstappen retains his F1 Singapore GP sprint pole after stewards cleared him of any wrongdoing against Lewis Hamilton.Just before the red flag moment in SQ1 of F1 Singapore GP sprint qualifying, there was a brief yellow flag which was enough for Red Bull’s Verstappen to be caught out and put under investigation for overtaking Ferrari’s Hamilton under a yellow flag. The Brit was quick to convey the overtake to his team, while the Dutchman was quick to explain what transpired. The FIA stewards have sided with Verstappen after listening to his explanation and checking the telemetry data.FIA Clears Verstappen in F1 Singapore GP Sprint QualifyingThe stewards explained that Verstappen – on a push lap – was exiting Turn 7 when he caught up with a slower Hamilton. A single yellow flag was being waved as the Brit reduced his speed to less than 60 km/hr, just when the Dutchman came around and passed him.The FIA said that Verstappen’s speed was some 70 km/hr slower at that moment when compared to other laps. He tried to slow significantly, but because he was on a push lap at full throttle, he unintentionally overtook a much slower Hamilton. The stewards accepted Verstappen’s say and cleared him of any wrongdoing. He, therefore, keeps his F1 sprint pole at the Singapore GP, which was a good result, even though Red Bull historically has struggled at the Marina Bay circuit.#F1 #SingaporeGP During SQ2, Max Verstappen overtook Lewis Hamilton while a yellow light was flashing. I mean I’m happy for sure. Qualifying is still the main goal tomorrow. Also, for us, I think tomorrow, the start, is always a critical point, so we have to wait and see, and then we’ll just do our best and see what happens but at least a positive end to the day,” summed up Verstappen. On the other hand, Hamilton suffered after switching to the soft compound to finish only sixth despite looking strong in the first two parts of F1 sprint qualifying. His teammate fared a bit better in being third, in a close fight for the pole, than the Brit.#F1 #SingaporeGP Results SQ3 and it’s pole position for Max Verstappen. #MsportXtra https://t.co/o9Hh6c5bOg— #MsportXtra © (@MsportXtra) October 9, 2026Hamilton Lost out All in SQ3The seven-time champion noted that the run plan to go early in SQ3 was his choice. “It was looking good in Q1 and Q2, and then I don’t really know where it went away,” said Hamilton to media. “We did a slightly different run plan to the others.“I
