CBS has an opening on their No. 4 NFL booth and Ross Tucker is a likely candidate to fill the role, per one sports media insider.
The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand discussed the possibility with Jimmy Traina on the latest SI Media podcast.

CBS needs to replace two analysts who appeared on their air last season. Jason McCourty re-signed with ESPN and Charles Davis is taking over for the retired Gary Danielson in the network’s top Big Ten booth. Both were part of a team that included play-by-play voice Andrew Catalon and sideline reporter A.J. Ross last year.
Marchand said there was “a very good chance” Ross will move into that spot.
That would be a move that makes a lot of sense. Tucker has been a part of CBS’ NFL team since 2023, getting some work down the depth chart. He also works college football and hosts the “Ross Tucker Football Podcast”.
For as much attention the premier NFL announcing jobs get, and as often as turnover has happened there in recent years, movement among the other supplementary booths is somewhat limited. There is some turnover every year but considering how high-profile the gig is, people tend to stay in them. It’s a bit unusual for a rightsholder to have to replace two members of a booth at the same time.
Of course, it remains to be seen if CBS will do that or opt for a two-person broadcast team.
