Eugeneans know “it never rains in Autzen Stadium,” but fans might get caught in the drizzle when the Savannah Bananas play the Party Animals at the University of Oregon’s football stadium June 27 and 28.
Banana Ball is a condensed version of baseball with nine rule changes designed to speed up the game and make it more entertaining for fans.

At Banana Ball games, fans can see talented players accomplish amazing plays while also watching team members do things like navigate the field on stilts, backflip on the pitching mound or dance in the crowd.
Here’s what you need to know about the Banana Ball games this weekend and how forecasted weather might impact them.
The Savannah Bananas are playing the Party Animals June 27 and 28 at Autzen Stadium, 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The June 27 game starts at 5 p.m. The June 28 game starts at 1 p.m.
Tickets for the wildly popular games sold out almost as soon as they were released via lottery, but The Register-Guard has some tips for folks still hoping to nab tickets.

Willamette Valley residents are getting a reprieve from the recent heat as the weather this weekend is forecast to cool down. Rain is predicted in the Eugene area, as of June 25.

Saturday, June 27: Showers are likely during the day, with the possibility of a thunderstorm after 11 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 90% during the day and 80% on Saturday night.

Sunday, June 28: There is a 50% chance of showers.

Kristina Fusco, Banana Ball spokesperson, said very few Banana Ball games have been canceled due to weather and the teams do their best to ensure the show goes on while keeping standard safety procedures in mind.
“Similar to Oregonians, it’s rare that we shy away from the rain,” Fusco said. “… Depending on the conditions, rain delays may be issued day-of. But not to worry — there is still plenty of entertainment that goes on during the delays to ensure everyone has the best experience possible.”

The Savannah Bananas play their second of three games against the Indianapolis Clowns at Great American Ball Park on June 20.
Fusco said the teams use in-stadium PA announcements, social media channels and the Banana Ball website, bananaball.com, to communicate day-of-game information.

According to the Banana Ball site, the teams closely monitor the weather and, “do everything humanly (and Bananaly) possible in order to play games as scheduled.”
Fusco said fans attending the games should be prepared for fun, as “Banana Ball truly provides the Greatest Show in Sports.”
The Savannah Bananas and the Party Animals are respectively ranked second and third in the Banana Ball Championship League, so fans can look forward to a competitive matchup.
