For Week 7, they will head north to face their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets. Miami has yet to play a division game in 2026, meaning half of their remaining 12 games will be matchups against AFC East teams. Can the 0-5 Dolphins become a menace in the division? If Miami is going to succeed this season, they need to see improvements across the roster. The youngest team in the league, the Dolphins are betting on rookies and second-year players to step up, grow quickly, and prove they are ready to be the foundation of a rebuild. It is not just the young players who need to improve, however. Miami Dolphins on SI writer Tyler DeSena took a look at Miami’s stagnant passing attack on Sunday, breaking down where the team needs better performances – including from offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, the skill-position players, and quarterback Malik Willis.Of Willis, DeSena wrote:Miami’s new quarterback bears plenty of blame for Miami’s failed aerial assault. It’s unfair to ask him to put out all of the fires started by his supporting cast, but he will be judged on whether or not he gets burned…Quicker decision-making will be the biggest key for Willis. His process has yet to speed up the requisite level to avoid major mistakes. He needs to be able to consistently get through his progressions, while also deciphering when to abandon the pocket or give up on a play. Thus far, he looks like a quarterback who has only started eleven career games, when this version of the Dolphins needs a higher level of maturation in order to put together complete performances.Welcome to the Splash Zone, a collection of Dolphins stories from around the web curated for you each morning.
