New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel called it like it is when discussing the two fumbles the team had in Sunday’s win over the New York Jets. One fumble came on a run attempt by Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson, who allowed the ball to be punched free and recovered by the defense. The other nixed a big passing play downfield to wide receiver DeMario Douglas, who also allowed the ball to be punched free and recovered by the defense after making a catch. “We turn the ball over at a historic rate, and it’s ridiculous. And it’s an embarrassment,” Vrabel said on The Greg Hill Show on Monday morning. “It’s ridiculous. It’s an EMBARRASMENT” What does HC Mike Vrabel make of the turnovers? Trying to do too much? #NFL#Football#fyp#Patriotspic.twitter.com/LAZqOOltyL— The Greg Hill Show (@TheGregHillShow) October 19, 2026The Patriots were able to overcome the turnovers in a closer-than-expected game against the Jets. Through six games, they have turned the ball over 13 times, which is the second-worst in the NFL. It’s an alarming stat that will ultimately come back to bite the team if they don’t get it under control. Vrabel even went as far as saying they were “lucky” to win. “Lucky to win… we just didn’t play very well,” Vrabel told reporters after the game, via Patriots Wire’s Sophie Weller. They’ll need more than luck when going on the road on a short week to face Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football.
