Star Washington receiver Terry McLaurin was carted off the field as the injuries started to pile up for Quinn’s team, including to a starting offensive lineman.Starting right guard Sam Cosmi was forced to head off to the NFL’s blue tent for evaluation as reporter Skyler Nelson of the Washington Informer described the situation.“Cosmi is now in the blue tent. Nick Allegretti takes over at guard for Cosmi,” she wrote. “Sam Cosmi is now down on the field,” she said earlier. “Looks like he hurt his back.”Watch sports LIVE with fuboTV (free trial)The 49ers led 23-10 early in the fourth quarter as Brock Purdy drove his team deep into Commanders territory. Washington needed to make a play as Purdy threatened to increase San Francisco’s lead on what felt like a rough day all the way around for Quinn’s young team.Receiver Stefon Diggs also joined Quinn’s walking wounded as he appeared to injure his right hand on a member of the 49ers’ helmet. Star QB Jayden Daniels’ offense was held to less than 200 yards by an unheralded 49ers defense as the fourth quarter got underway and the Commanders’ running attack was held to a measly 34 yards on the night.Quinn’s team took a lot of goodwill from its 2025 run to the NFC Championship Game, but Week 6 looked like more evidence that they are farther away from the Super Bowl than they originally looked. Injuries to Cosmi and Diggs both looked bad, further driving home the point that this doesn’t feel like the Commanders’ year at all so far.Related: Commanders QB Jayden Daniels calls out team’s need after 49ers lossRelated: 49ers’ Malik Mustapha denies Commanders TD with highlight end zone stop
