NASCAR driver rankings after Talladega. Joey Logano upside-down and look who’s on top!

By admin — In News — October 28, 2026

There’s a longstanding policy around here.We don’t alter the weekly top-10 driver rankings after a plate-race, and yes, that certainly includes Talladega. Why? As you witnessed, there are way too many variables in one of those animals, and therefore it makes no sense to adjust rankings due to the whims of plate-racin’.But suffice to say, even if we did, there wouldn’t be any change at the very top, where Kyle Larson isn’t just keeping the seat warm, but threatening to lock it down here over the next two weeks. It’s not like Kyle was in any big danger of losing No. 1 here. Well, not real big danger, but still, Chase Briscoe could be seen kicking the tires of our upper rung. A couple wins to end the year and Chase would likely stage a coup, but that’s a tall order.1. Kyle LarsonNo yellow lines here, and no controversy about who’s number 1.2. Chase BriscoeMight have to settle for the Toyota Cup this year.3. Denny HamlinNeeds a win and some help, and needs it quickly or there’ll be no near-miss for the Cup this year. But here’s some good news for Denny and all those who still adhere to grandpa’s old Winston Cup points formula …Denny Hamlin survives Talladega and will clinch the championship by starting next week at Martinsville. pic.twitter.com/Qd9TtnHTAI— NASCAR Winston Cup Series Standings (@NWCS_Standings) October 25, 20267.
