Here’s why Hansi Flick is ready to test La Masia star vs Alaves this weekendBarcelona will be looking to return to winning ways as they take on Deportivo Alaves at Camp Nou this weekend. This game will present a major challenge for Hansi Flick, who has lost out on multiple defenders due to injury, potentially prompting the German tactician to make some adjustments.Guillem Victor has emerged as one of the potential beneficiaries of Barcelona’s ongoing injury crisis and the La Masia starlet could feature as a right-back against Alaves. Why Victor is rated highlyFlick is ready to put his faith in Victor. (Photo by Burak Kara/Getty Images)As reported by Diario SPORT, Victor is rated highly in the Barcelona camp thanks to the immense potential he has shown in La Masia. The 19-year-old, younger brother of Pau Victor, has long since established his own identity as a full-back with genuine first-team potential. While it is not the first time Flick has drafted him into training, this call-up carries far greater significance given the defensive injury crisis, particularly at right-back.With Xavi Espart sidelined for seven weeks, Eric Garcia geared towards the trip to Atletico and Jules Kounde not yet fully fit, Flick has turned to the reserves. There, he has found a player blessed with total confidence in his ability and a style bearing the unmistakable stamp of La Masia. Those who know Victor well point to his mentality as a key trait. He is said to possess real nerve and personality, the kind of character who overcomes setbacks rather than complaining when overlooked. An all-round and versatile playerGuillem Victor is the brother of former Barcelona striker Pau Victor. That adaptability, coupled with a strong competitive streak, has allowed him to steadily climb the academy ladder. He is the latest talent to emerge from the vaunted 2007 generation, the crop spearheaded by Lamine Yamal and featuring Pau Cubarsi, Marc Bernal and Espart. It helps, too, that Victor has been a regular under Juliano Belletti in the reserves, starting almost every game at right-back. For Flick, his standout game intelligence, his ability to drift into central areas and, above all, his fearlessness on the ball, a quality the German prizes, make him an intriguing option as Barcelona host Alaves this weekend.
