Brest manager Julien Lachuer backs striker Ludovic Ajorque over France call-upHe isn’t the first name that springs to mind when discussing candidates for a call-up to the French national team, but Ludovic Ajorque (32) can at least count on his manager, Julien Lachuer, to back his case.“We have some truly great players in France, and Ludo is one of them,” the French manager told Ligue1+ on Monday, following the derby between FC Lorient and Stade Brestois 29, in which Ajorque once again distinguished himself. “We have a brilliant manager (Zinédine Zidane); we must trust him. If he needs Ludo, he’ll be there. Ludo is a player who makes the team better; he has that understanding of the game and that team spirit. If the manager needs someone with a strong presence, someone who draws the ball in and perhaps also brings out the best in others, well, he’s available.”With more than 200 Ligue 1 appearances to his name, Ajorque has scored no fewer than 71 goals and provided 32 assists. A key player in Lachuer’s Brest side, the Saint-Joseph native from Réunion started each of the first nine league matches of the 2026-27 season, finding the net four times and providing two assists. A player as experienced as he is renowned in the French league, he has nevertheless – as yet- not earned a single call-up to Les Bleus, not even at youth level.GFFN | Léo Aschi
