Evaluating Brian Thomas Jr.’s role in Week 9 win before trade deadline

As the trade deadline nears, how active was WR Brian Thomas Jr. in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offensive game plan against Baltimore in Week 9?After playing only 15 snaps in Week 6 against Houston, Thomas’ workload last week against Indianapolis was more in line with what we’d expect. But this week, his opportunities were again limited.According to PFF, of the Jaguars’ 56 offensive snaps, Thomas was on the field for 19 of them. For some context, Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers each played 38 snaps. Josh Cameron played 25.And during those snaps, Thomas wasn’t targeted once. From Week 1 to now, Thomas’ role in the offense has decreased. He’s also only caught 10 passes this season for 117 yards with two touchdowns. He now has three games with no receptions. So with that, for several weeks now, Thomas’ name has continued to surface in trade speculation. However, many reports suggest that while other teams will be calling on Thomas, the Jaguars have “not shown a willingness” to move on from the talented wideout, as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler put it.His fit in the Liam Coen offense has never materialized, but his abiltiy to win downfield provides an important element that defenses have to account for, even if the ball doesn’t come his way. This article originally appeared on Jaguars Wire: Evaluating Brian Thomas Jr.’s role in Week 9 win before trade deadline
