Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.It was a low-scoring season opener between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, and that may be because of the injuries to a pair of key players on both teams. Sam Darnold went down with a hip injury in the first quarter and was ruled out for the remainder of the game, which led Drew Lock to take over.On the Patriots side, A.J. Brown went down with an ankle injury in the third quarter of the game, and he was also ruled out for the rest of the game. There are rumors that Brown suffered a high ankle sprain, and he’ll get an MRI to get clarity, as well as a timetable on how long he may be sidelined. There are already some doctors who are speculating the best and worst-case scenarios for Brown, including physical therapy doctor Jeff Mueller.Watch sports LIVE with fuboTV (free trial)“AJ Brown – suspecting high ankle. Worst case: 6-8 weeks or w/ fib fracture. Best case: 3-4 weeks RTP,” Mueller wrote on X, formerly Twitter. If that’s the case, the Patriots are definitely hoping for the best-case scenario, and he’d only miss about four weeks at best. The Patriots may even be more cautious and hold him out for longer just so he can be at 100%, but if Brown feels like he can make an impact on the field, he’ll come back sooner rather than later.Of course, the worst-case scenario would see Brown miss half of the season, and that’s not good for the Patriots. After he went down in the game, the offense was having a hard time moving the ball down the field, and Drake Maye threw three interceptions. If Brown has to miss time, the Patriots will have to rely on Romeo Doubs, Mack Hollins and others to fill his void.Related: Patriots’ Romeo Doubs in shambles after inexcusable drop highlights $68 million goose eggRelated: Patriots Week 1 overreactions: A serious AJ Brown injury would totally derail season
