Lake Travis will play a game at its home stadium for the first time in more than a year this week. Renovations at the facility have kept the Cavaliers from playing games on campus since September 2025. But that changes Lake Travis takes on undefeated Cedar Ridge in a pivotal district matchup at 7 p.m. Friday.

The overhauled venue will have a capacity of 11,090 people, Lake Travis spokesman Marco Alvarado told the Statesman, an almost 4,000-person increase from the previous capacity of 7,400. The stadium will also feature a new concession stand and press box. The expanded stadium should create a memorable experience, Cavaliers coach Hank Carter told the Statesman last month.”I think it’d be like a college game,” he said when asked about the atmosphere around the new stadium last month. “I think it’s going to be rowdy and loud. I think the game day experience is going to be second to none. I know our community and our kids here at the school are excited to be back at home for a football game.”MORE:Central Texas Week 6 football scores: District races are heating up around Austin areaThe construction was greenlit in the November 2023 bond election, according to past reporting from the Statesman. In July 2025, the district’s board of trustees approved a $48.3 million budget for the project, which includes a women’s sports field house, new locker rooms and other amenities. The overall project is 80% complete, school district representatives said, but won’t be finished for months. However, the stadium is far enough along to host the six-time state champions.

Lake Travis last played at its home stadium Sept. 12, 2025 when it faced Midland Lee. The Cavaliers played the rest of their home games at Dripping Springs before having its first home game of this season, a Sept. 17 matchup against San Antonio Cornerstone Christian, at San Marcos High School.Carter said the team played two games last season at Cavalier Stadium before moving its games because the school didn’t want any seniors to miss out on experiencing a game at the field during their final year at the school.Having every game feel like a road game has been a unique experience for one of Central Texas’ perennial powers. But after nearly 13 months, Lake Travis wide receiver and defensive back Luca Antoun said the team is “fired up” to be back at their home. MORE:’A Vegas call:’ Late onside kick secures Liberty Hill’s w
